Easy solution to the blasting stereo; set the volume to a low level before parking. I live in a house, but starting my car and having the stereo blast at freeway volumes (25-32) in the early morning a few times quickly trained me to leave the volume at 5 before I fully park the car

I played NSMBU after Wonder and honestly I prefer NSMBU. I like that most of the stages are designed to be ran through quickly and don’t have many sections that make you come to a hard stop. Wonder just felt really gimmicky. Too many times the wonder effect felt rather somewhat slow paced than normal and it’s more focused on the “wow factor” than the gameplay. It looks cool and all, but it’s nothing I really want to replay, tbh. The game made very poor use of the badges. They could have challenge modes similar to NSMBU that have levels designed around the badges. A real wasted opportunity. I feel like nearly every stage could have a time trial that unlocks after beating it. It can be an interesting and optional way to challenge the player. A mode like time trial is very standard in the platforming genre, and I really think Nintendo should start taking notes from other platforming games. The game felt unusual easy. Not that NSMBU was a particularly difficult game, but it was challenging enough that you are at least engaged with the level. At least I was. Wonder started to feel a little brain dead after a while. Wonder is really short in general with no replay value, imo. Other platformers can get away with being on the shorter side because they almost always have interesting challenges and side content, like the aforementioned Time Trial mode for example. Wonder has absolutely nothing except for collectables, a secret final stage and that’s it. I know games like Super Mario World was designed in a similar way, but that was released in 91. I don’t think games from the early 90s should be still setting standards for how much content is in games decades later. I still like Wonder, but there’s a lot more it could have had.
